Young
Lion
at Dusk
Dimensions:
25" x 25" |
 |
| This piece is an unglazed, pit-fired ceramic sculpture that hangs in
the "great hall" of my home. It is modeled after a young lion I trained during my "circus days" by
the name of Dante. He was my favorite lion of all time and I still think about him
when I look at this piece.

Mara Impala
Dimensions:
38" x 32"
|
 |
| This
piece is made of twelve individual unglazed ceramic tiles painted with watercolors and
mounted on a plywood base and framed in oak. The word "Mara" means "plain" and was chosen because this
work is based on a photograph of a male impala (females don't have horns) taken in the
Maasai Mara (Plain of the Maasai Warriors) of Kenya in East Africa.
This work hangs in the "grand entryway" of my home.

 |
Slither!
Dimensions:
64" x 17"
|
 |
| This is a glazed ceramic sculpture made of six separate tiles mounted together
on a pine base. The scales were made of hundreds of small slabs of clay mounted onto
the same tile, then painted with engobes, fired, then glazed and fired again. The pattern is a stylized composite of several different types of snake
patterns.
This incredibly heavy piece hangs on the wall over the
"grand stairway" of my home.

Eyecups
These two mugs have ear-shaped handles and other body parts. They're in my
kitchen cabinet.
