Kevin's Travel Tips
Although each of these tips has value, I don't make any claims for their legitimacy or advisability. In other words, I hereby abdicate all responsibility for these tips  --you are on your own!

Don't drink the water! You can do what you want, but I never drink the local water in a distant location.  ALL local water supplies contain some E. coli and other bacteria that are normally harmless but can cause diarrhea in travelers (that is, those NEW to the area).  Because I avoid local tap water wherever I travel to avoid Montezuma's revenge, Kilimanjaro's revenge, Brian Boru's revenge, etc. (traveler's diarrhea), I also use bottled water for brushing my teeth, making tea, etc.   If you are trying to avoid the local water supply, don't use ice made with unfiltered water.

Be careful with meats. When traveling, it's best to avoid undercooked meats --even if you usually enjoy somewhat rare meat at home.
Kevin looking for another food adventure in Paris.Try the local favorites! It really is fun to ask the locals what they think the best food of their region is.   Then ask them who makes the best preparation of it.  If it's their mom, then ask to dine with her that evening!  Don't forget to sample the local beer, local wine, local liqueur, and local appetizer or snack.  NEVER shout "yuk!" when presented with a local dish --unless you're itching for a fight.
The photo shows me in the Montparnasse area of Paris checking out some new foods to try.
Ask the local folks where to go. Ask your hotel clerks where THEY like to eat in the neighborhood of your hotel.   Sometimes, if you mention this recommendation at the restaurant, you'll get a discount or complimentary drink.  You might even suggest this if it's not offered.   At the very least, you'll probably get a good meal.
