with my lovely wife Jenny,

my herd of cats (Max and Mysté), 
and sometimes my other two children (both of whom are above average):

Study Tour in the Andes (Peru)

I was born in St. Louis on a warm August evening in 1958.

I enjoy live entertainment, especially circuses and theater.

My Bacon number is 3

Other interests:

• Nature  (including wildlife photography, hiking, and birding)

• Trivia games (and trivial activities, for that matter)

Prior to my teaching/writing career, I was a zookeeper, wildlife rehabilitator & researcher, and wild animal trainer. 

• I've worked mainly with big cats, sea lions, and birds of prey but have also worked with elephants, horses, and MANY other types of animals.
  
  
• I even worked with Einstein, the ONLY trained tamandua (lesser anteater) in the HISTORY OF THE WORLD, originally trained by Dr. "Jungle George" Stoecklin.
